Forestry produce moves about US$327,000 million per year, which translates like 3.7% of the worldwide entire basic products market. 1600 million cubic meters of wood roll was produced just for industrial use.
Timber is a raw material that historically represents a constant positive evolution, in both its price and its prestige as a renewable resource. It has survived different attempts at being replaced by other materials like metal or plastic. Being a material that has some characteristics that are difficulty found in other materials, never has any equivalent replacement been found. It is a completely renewable material requiring relatively little energy for its transformation and therefore does not contaminate which clearly differs it from other materials. It has an excellent resistance-weight ratio, besides being a good acoustic corrector, it provides thermal comfort. We can also highlight that wooden environments improve life and health quality, well as having beneficial effects on the growth and mood of persons according to a study conducted by the Institute of Biomechanics in Valencia (IBV).
The singularities of wood like the presence of defects: damages, knots, cracks, slits, or shakes, as well as its ovality or conicity, if it has twisted fibre or visible marrow of the tree species producing the wood will define its industrial use and consequently its price. Therefore, Ecolumber always performs the most adequate forestry works every time and pays special attention to the drying of the trunks so the majority of its production can be used as saw wood.
